AML Ongoing Due Diligence People Leader
Location / Office Policy: Central Park, Dublin 18 - Hybrid working with 3 days per week in the office

What is the Role?
We are recruiting for a team leader to join the AML Ongoing Due Diligence Team within Financial Crime.
The Financial Crime function operates as part of the First Line of Defence, protecting AIB, our customers and society from money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud and other forms of financial crime. The team works closely with Business and Corporate Banking to ensure AML risks are identified, assessed, mitigated and documented throughout the customer lifecycle.
This role is suited to an experienced AML professional with strong knowledge of business and corporate customers, transaction activity, ownership structures and AML regulatory requirements, who is ready to take on increased responsibility for oversight, decision‑making and stakeholder engagement.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead and oversee AML Ongoing Due Diligence reviews for Business and Corporate Banking customers, ensuring compliance with AIB AML Policy, Standards and local procedures.
- Support effective risk escalation by clearly articulating concerns, proposed mitigants and rationale to senior colleagues, ensuring complex cases are progressed efficiently and transparently.
- Monitor emerging typologies, regulatory expectations and internal policy changes, embedding relevant updates into day‑to‑day decision making and guiding the team through changes in AML requirements
- Apply sound judgement and risk‑based decision making when reviewing complex customer structures, beneficial ownership, source of wealth/funds and transactional activity.
- Use a range of internal systems and external data sources (e.g. VisionNet, Dow Jones, RBO and other registries) to analyse customer risk and determine appropriate AML outcomes.
- Ensure AML data and documentation are accurately recorded, maintained and retrievable across relevant bank systems (including AML CDD).
- Maintain oversight of work queues, SLAs and case progression, ensuring issues, blockers and outstanding queries are actively tracked and resolved.
- Act as a key point of contact for Relationship Managers and business stakeholders, providing clear, practical AML guidance and challenge where required.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance and support to colleagues, role‑modelling strong AML behaviours and standards… with people‑leader accountability for coaching, providing regular performance feedback, contributing to objective‑setting and performance reviews, supporting development planning, and managing performance issues in line with AIB HR policies and procedures.
- Support quality, consistency and audit readiness through strong record‑keeping, MI and controls.
- Support effective risk escalation by clearly articulating concerns, proposed mitigants and rationale to senior colleagues, ensuring complex cases are progressed efficiently and transparently.
- Monitor emerging typologies, regulatory expectations and internal policy changes, embedding relevant updates into day‑to‑day decision making and guiding the team through changes in AML requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying process inefficiencies and supporting initiatives to streamline and simplify AML processes.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance and support to colleagues, role‑modelling strong AML behaviours and standards.
What You Will Bring:
- A minimum of 3 years’ AML experience, including exposure to Business and/or Corporate Banking customers.
- Strong working knowledge of AML regulations and obligations, particularly in relation to Business and Corporate Banking customers.
- Solid understanding of corporate structures, complex ownership chains and transaction patterns, and how these drive AML risk.
- Proven ability to analyse and interpret data and information, and to communicate conclusions clearly to stakeholders.
- Strong organisational awareness and the ability to navigate competing priorities, using sound judgement to balance customer, operational and risk considerations
- Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines, delivering high‑quality outputs within SLA‑driven environments.
- Ability to build effective relationships and collaborate confidently with Relationship Managers and senior stakeholders.
- A proactive, accountable mindset with a focus on owning outcomes and delivering consistent, high‑quality service.
- Agility and flexibility to support learning and movement across AML Specialist teams as business needs evolve.
- Demonstrable people leadership experience, including coaching or supporting colleagues, would be an advantage.
