What is the Role?
We are recruiting for a Level 2 AML Ongoing Due Diligence Specialist to join the Financial Crime Centre of Excellence.
Financial Crime operates as part of the First Line of Defence, protecting AIB, our customers and society from money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud and other criminal activity. By centralising AML, Sanctions and Fraud expertise and investing in technology, the Centre of Excellence enables consistent, risk‑based decision‑making and rapid response to emerging threats.
In this role, you will support Business and Corporate Banking by completing Ongoing Due Diligence (ODD) reviews, using a risk‑based approach to monitor customer relationships and ensure compliance with AIB AML Policy, Standards and regulatory obligations. The role is suited to someone with experience or developing expertise in AML, particularly in relation to business and/or corporate customers, who wants to build a strong career in Financial Crime.
Key Accountabilities
- Complete AML Ongoing Due Diligence (ODD) reviews in line with AML Standards, procedures and localised process documents.
- Apply a risk‑based approach when reviewing customer profiles, ownership structures, transactional behaviour and risk triggers.
- Analyse information held on bank systems and external documentation to support informed AML decision‑making.
- Review and interpret customer financial statements as part of the AML risk assessment process.
- Follow up outstanding information with customers and Local Markets, demonstrating tenacity and attention to detail.
- Accurately update and record customer AML information on bank systems.
- Work professionally and collaboratively with offshore colleagues to deliver agreed outcomes.
- Use Active Operations Management (AOM) to manage workload and deliver outputs in line with agreed resource plans and SLAs.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, supporting enhancements to AML processes in a changing regulatory environment.
What You Will Bring
- Experience reviewing Business accounts, sectors and understanding
- Ability to analyse and interpret data and information, manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines governed by SLAs.
- Knowledge of Financial Crime, AML and Legal & Regulatory Requirements, or a strong appetite to develop this knowledge further.
- Experience or exposure to Business and/or Corporate Banking customers is desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail.
- A collaborative, engaged team player who can also work on their own initiative.
- Strong interpersonal skills with evidence of working effectively with colleagues to deliver shared objectives.
- Ability to work in a high-volume operational environment with strict Service Level Agreements, eliminating roadblocks to resolve cases quickly and efficiently while reducing risk.
- Demonstrated experience owning and managing a personal pipeline of cases ensuring SLA and risk policy adherence.
- Flexibility and agility to learn and move across AML Specialist teams within Financial Crime as required.
