What is the Role:

 

We are seeking a highly capable and technically strong Fraud Decision Manager to lead the fraud decisioning capability within AIB. This role sits within the Fraud Intelligence structure and is accountable for the performance, optimisation, and governance of fraud decisioning across Cards Fraud, Payments Fraud, and Trend Analytics.

 

The role combines deep experience in data science, fraud analytics, model development, implementation, and governance with strong people leadership and stakeholder management. The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for developing and enhancing fraud rules and models, turning fraud data into actionable control changes, and ensuring that fraud decisioning is effective, scalable, and governed in line with business, regulatory, and risk requirements.

 

 

Key accountabilities:

 

  • Lead the end-to-end fraud decisioning capability across Cards Fraud, Payments Fraud, and Trend Analytics, ensuring joined-up ownership of rules, models, analytics, and performance.
  • Apply domain knowledge in financial fraud to review and enhance existing anomaly detection, fraud rules, and machine learning models across payments and card fraud use cases.
  • Oversee the development, validation and post-live monitoring of fraud models and decisioning changes.
  • Lead the translation of fraud-risk, regulatory, operational, and business requirements into effective decisioning controls, use cases, and system enhancements.
  • Use MI, fraud trends, and operational data to identify emerging risks, optimise thresholds, improve alert quality, and strengthen control effectiveness.
  • Provide clear governance and performance reporting on fraud controls, model outputs, KPIs, and emerging threats to relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team spanning fraud decisioning, trend analytics, and control optimisation.
  • Collaborate with Fraud Operations, Financial Crime Units, Compliance & Risk, Technology / Engineering, Product, and Data teams to deliver scalable fraud solutions.

 

 

What you Will Bring:

 

  • 8–10+ years’ experience in analytics, data science, model development, or decisioning within banking or financial services.
  • Strong hands-on experience with machine learning-based detection systems, including development, validation, deployment, and post-live monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of fraud typologies such as card fraud, payment fraud, account takeover, and mule activity.
  • Hands-on expertise in SQL, Python, and Big Data tools such as Databricks, with the ability to work with large and complex datasets.
  • Exposure to fraud platforms such as Featurespace, TSYS, or similar fraud detection systems.
  • Strong understanding of data flows, data models, and system integrations across fraud platforms and source systems.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams, manage senior stakeholders, and communicate complex fraud and data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
