2 days per week in the office,  increasing to 3 days in from 1st January 2026- Wednesday, Thursday & Friday

 

 

What is the Role:

 

This is a unique opportunity to manage an inhouse payroll for over circa 10,000 employees.  We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and evolve our payroll operations across our ROI and UK jurisdictions. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance, accuracy and efficiency in payroll processing. The role brings with it the opportunity to combine deep payroll expertise with inspiring leadership. 

 

Leading a team of payroll specialists, this role oversees all aspects of payroll operations and ensures robust governance, continuous improvement, and alignment with organisational objectives. Reporting into the Group Reward Team, the role sits within the HR Function and provides the opportunity to deliver on the broader HR strategic priorities.

Key accountabilities:

 

  • Lead and Develop the Payroll Team: Provide leadership, mentoring, and professional development to a team of 11 payroll professionals. Fostering a culture of high performance, learning, and accountability.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: Oversee all aspects of end-to-end payroll processing across ROI and UK ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing and compliance with statutory, regulatory, and internal policy requirements. Implement and maintain effective controls, audits, and risk management practices to protect payroll operations.
  • Optimise Processes and Systems: Promote a culture of continuous improvement. Drive process improvements, automation, and system enhancements to optimise the efficiency and accuracy of payroll operations.
  • Engage Stakeholders and Manage Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll matters, collaborating with the wider HR team, Finance, Tax, Legal, Audit and external partners.
  • Lead Organisational Change: Lead the team in delivering organisational change initiatives, including cross-functional projects, implementation of government regulations such as pension auto enrolment and introduction of new employee benefits.

 

 

What you Will Bring

 

  • IPASS or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 7 years payroll experience with at least 3 years’ experience leading a payroll team in a large company environment  
  • Experience of managing payrolls of min 2,000 employees, and leading change
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll principles, systems, and best practices across ROI and UK.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent project management, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements and managing change in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation and HR processes.
  • Experience with SAP system desirable.
