What is the Role:

 

We are seeking an experienced and creative Business & Wealth Banking Propositions Design Manager to join our Chief Customer Office (CCO), reporting into the Head of Propositions within the CCO. This role is pivotal in shaping innovative, customer-centric propositions from initial ideation through to top-level feasibility assessments. You will lead the design of end-to-end propositions, applying Design Thinking principles and working within the Desirable, Feasible, Viable (DFV) innovation framework. This work will be hugely collaborative and will mean you working tightly with our Retail, Capital Markets & UK colleagues. The role will cover Wealth Mgmt, Capital Markets, SME, NI & UK. Your work will directly impact how we meet evolving customer needs, differentiate in a competitive market, and deliver long-term value.

 

 

Key accountabilities:

 

  • Lead the design of end-to-end customer propositions, translating insight-driven ideas into structured concepts ready for feasibility assessment.
  • Facilitate and apply Design Thinking methods including deep customer research, problem statement definition, customer journey mapping, ideation workshops, and rapid prototyping.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to understand customer needs, behaviours, and pain points.
  • Collaborate with research, digital, and data teams to generate insight and ensure customer and commercial alignment.
  • Carry out continuous competitor tracking and benchmarking including international best practice. Ensure the team keep ahead of local and global trends that will impact customers and our business and incorporate into strategic plans where appropriate.
  • Drive iterative proposition testing and learning loops, leveraging customer feedback and experimentation.
  • Develop clear and compelling proposition narratives, value propositions, and business cases for stakeholder buy-in and approval.
  • Champion the DFV (Desirable, Feasible, Viable) model to evaluate and shape propositions with cross-functional teams including our key partners in Retail, Capital Markets & UK and other parts of the business including, finance, IT, risk and compliance etc.
  • Undertake high level business cases and delivery feasibility with key colleagues throughout the business.
  • Ensure design outputs, align with regulatory requirements, brand strategy, and operational capabilities.
  • Influence and support strategic roadmap development with the Head of Propositions and other senior leaders, ensuring we feed into the planning and investment process of the business.
  • Ensure propositions are brought through relevant governance fora.

 

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in proposition or product design within financial services and/or other industries
  • Knowledge of Design Thinking and innovation methodologies helpful with a strong portfolio of delivery of end to end projects.
  • Strong understanding of the DFV model and ability to guide cross-functional teams through this framework.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer research, journey mapping, and prototyping.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity, with a strong problem-solving mindset and structured approach.
  • Excellent storytelling and communication skills – proven ability to engage and present to senior stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of how to assess early-stage business viability.
  • Experience managing ideation through to feasibility in agile and cross-functional settings.
  • Strong team collaboration and stakeholder management abilities, with a customer-first mindset.
