What is the Role:
Group Compliance is a Second Line of Defence function within AIB Group. Privacy and Data Protection Risk is managed by the Data Protection Officer (DPO) team, headed up by the Data Protection Officer within AIB Group Compliance, where the DPO builds and maintains effective working relationships with our Regulator (the Data Protection Commission).
The role sits within the Data Protection Office, which forms part of the Compliance function. It offers the opportunity to operate in a dynamic regulatory environment, working closely with key business areas across the Bank to embed strong data protection practices and support compliance with regulatory obligations. Key accountabilities:
- Work independently and as part of a team to deliver effective data protection risk management.
- Provide accurate, consistent, and timely data protection advice, particularly in relation to Personal Data Breaches.
- Act as the main point of contact for AIB and its Data Protection regulator, coordinating accurate and timely responses.
- Actively collaborate with colleagues across the DP Community, delivering a consistent application of data protection standards.
- Seek out ways to enhance processes and controls to mitigate risk by continuously challenging current processes.
- Deliver training to business areas on regulatory requirements, with a focus on Personal Data Breaches
What you Will Bring:
- A minimum of two years’ experience working within banking or financial services, with exposure to a regulated environment.
- Experience in Data Protection is desirable, including the practical application of GDPR through a risk-based approach within a regulated banking environment.
- Strong ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to deliver high‑quality outcomes under pressure and within competing priorities.
- Experience managing relationships with business stakeholders and/or regulators, including the ability to communicate complex requirements clearly and pragmatically.
