What is the Role:

 

Group Compliance is a Second Line of Defence function within AIB Group,.  Privacy and Data Protection Risk is managed by the Data Protection Office (DPO) team, headed up by the Data Protection Officer within AIB Group Compliance, where the DPO builds and maintains effective working relationships with our Regulator (the Data Protection Commission).  

 

The role sits within the Data Protection Office, which forms part of the Compliance function. It offers the opportunity to operate in a dynamic regulatory environment, working closely with key business areas across the Bank to embed strong data protection practices and support compliance with regulatory obligations. Key accountabilities:

 

  • Provide accurate, consistent, and timely data protection advice on particularly in relation to Personal Data Breaches.
  • Conduct independent review and challenge of data protection artefacts to ensure the privacy and data protection risk is clearly articulated, ensuring regulatory compliance and effective risk management.
  • Act as the main point of contact for AIB and its Data Protection regulator, coordinating accurate and timely responses.
  • Actively collaborate with colleagues across the DP Community, delivering a consistent application of data protection standards.
  • Attend key business and regulatory project meetings and provide data protection advice.
  • Review new products, propositions, and product changes from a privacy and data protection risk perspective.
  • Represent the Data Protection team at governance forums.
  • Deliver training to business areas on regulatory requirements, with a focus on Personal Data Breaches

 

What you Will Bring:

 

  • At least 3 years’ experience interpreting, advising and assessing Privacy and Data Protection regulation and risk.
  • Experience working with policies, processes and reporting in a regulated environment, understanding current and emerging Privacy and Data Protection risks.
  • In depth knowledge of Data Protection Regulations including the GDPR and ePrivacy.
  • Strong ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with a proven record on delivery in an environment of changing priorities and tight deadlines.

Experience managing relationships with business stakeholders and/or regulators, including the ability to communicate complex requirements clearly and pragmatically .
