What is the role:
The Financial Crime Fraud Intelligence team is responsible for supporting the Financial Crime function by analysing fraud patterns and system data to develop appropriate and dynamic rule strategies to prevent and detect fraud. Our purpose is to protect our customers and society from organised crime, and other criminal activities, through our commitment to the prevention and detection of financial crime.
The Financial Crime Senior Business analyst, is a new role within FC systems and Intelligence team. The Senior Business Analyst will play a critical role in strengthening AIB’s Financial Crime detection and prevention capabilities across payments and cards. This includes leading analysis and change initiatives relating to SEPA Instant Payments VOP scheme requirements, fraud‑control enhancements, regulatory‑driven updates, and system optimisation across the Financial Crime landscape.
Reporting to the Fraud intelligence manager, this role requires a strong fraud‑risk mindset, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to translate complex business needs into actionable, high‑quality requirements. The role holder will support AIB’s goal of delivering world‑class fraud prevention, enabling safe customer journeys and protecting the bank from emerging threats.
Key accountabilities:
As part of the Financial Crime Fraud Intelligence team, you will:
- Lead the gathering, assessment and documentation of complex fraud‑related requirements, including SEPA Instant Payments (IP) VOP scheme changes, industry regulatory updates and internal control enhancements.
- Translate business needs into functional and non‑functional specifications, ensuring alignment with technical feasibility and program objectives.
Write high‑quality user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps and SOP content to support solution delivery. - Conduct analysis across payments and card fraud workflows, including transaction patterns, alert behavior, rules logic and risk indicators.
- Partnering with Payments, Fraud Operations, Risk and Technology to ensure alignment across the E2E customer journey.
- Foster and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, championing the successful design and implementation of enterprise-level solutions while ensuring accountability for outcomes and deadlines.
- Communicate with clarity and influence across cross-functional teams, actively listening, managing stakeholder expectations, and pre-emptively addressing emerging issues.
What You Will Bring:
- Minimum 4+ years business analyst experience.
- Proven experience in leading requirement gathering and analysis of complex business processes.
- Proven project management experience.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, Power point, Word.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex findings clearly.
