What is the Role:
Working within the Homes Tribe, the successful candidate will provide technical leadership to a cross-functional squad in changing and supporting the IT solutions for handling all payments services offered to EBS customers. Your payments and engineering insights will be key to achieving business outcomes and to supporting critical, always-on information systems.
You will assess the impact of user stories, defined detailed solutions, participate in solution development and review the squad’s technical deliverables. You will also champion continuous improvement in the squad’s engineering landscape and best practices.
Key accountabilities:
- Provide technical leadership in delivering and supporting IT solutions that keeps things simple for EBS customers in their daily payment service’s needs.
- Collaborate with the key stakeholders across AIB IT and EBS business to deliver sustainable technical solutions that put our customer payment needs first.
- Leading technical impact assessment, solution design and development.
- Managing and resolving IT incidents and participating in a 24x7 on-call rota.
- Assessing the technical impacts of new change requirements, removing complexity and preparing high- and low-level solution designs.
- Reviewing other colleagues’ technical deliverables.
- Maintaining a focus on non-functional quality requirements in security, performance, testability and sustainability of technical deliverables.
- Maintaining a focus on knowledge management and succession planning.
- Coordinating the workload of the squad’s engineers.
- Providing technical insight and direction on the EBS payments systems / interfaces; and on best-in-class approaches to IT modernisation and automation.
- Ensuring adherence to the IT Delivery Standards.
What you Will Bring:
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in IBM mainframe development
- Solid background in financial services, with particular knowledge of SEPA payments
- Expert in Z/OS, COBOL, CICS, XPED, VSAM, MQ, JCL, TSO and EARL.
- Experienced in designing, developing, implementing and optimising mainframe applications.
- Support of critical batch cycles and high-availability systems, with proven record in troubleshooting high-severity production issues.
- Strong business and technology stakeholder communications and negotiation.
- Cross-squad collaboration.
