What is the Role?

This is a senior leadership role within the Technology & Data organisation, reporting to the Head of IT Operations and Service Management. The successful candidate will lead AIB’s Service Availability and Release Management across all technology platforms.
Own ITSM processes (incident, problem, change, continuity) and enterprise release planning. Ensure safe, compliant technology change aligned with regulatory and security standards. Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and business teams to maximise service reliability.

Key Capabilities

  • Customer Focus & Collaboration: Build strong customer relationships and partner with AIB teams and vendors to deliver reliable services and seamless change.
  • Technical Expertise & Troubleshooting: Apply broad technical knowledge to quickly diagnose and resolve service resilience issues.
  • ITSM Governance: Define and enforce ITSM standards and frameworks aligned with ITIL and regulatory requirements.
  • Service & Change Assurance: Oversee service availability, incident/problem resolution, and change risk assessments to maintain stability.
  • Release Management Leadership: Plan, govern, and execute enterprise-level releases with full compliance and minimal disruption.

Job Environment

  • Key member of the IT Security and Resilience leadership team.
  • Operates in a high-pressure environment, managing enabling technologies for a complex ecosystem of staff and partners.
  • Requires strategic thinking and decisive action to ensure business and customer safety.
  • Strong engagement with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Microsoft, Hitachi, Oracle, IBM, HCL).

Experience & Qualifications

  • ITSM & Release Expertise: 8–10 years in service and release management within financial or regulated environments, with proven governance and resilience leadership.
  • Broad Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of diverse technologies including on-premise, cloud platforms, and mainframe systems, with ability to adapt quickly to new tools.
  • Innovation & Strategic Delivery: Demonstrated ability to drive efficiency, implement automation, and introduce transformative practices.
  • ·Stakeholder & Communication Skills: Skilled at navigating complex organisations, managing senior stakeholders, and aligning technology trends with business needs.
  • Desirable certifications: ITIL Expert, ISO 20000, Release Management, or related fields.
