What is the Role:
The role presents an exciting and challenging opportunity to an experienced Senior Engineer who wants to work in a dynamic workplace with a real opportunity to positively influence the direction and outcome of strategic change programmes through best in class design thinking and practices.
The candidate will join a large team of highly motivated and driven engineers, delivering real change within AIB’s Core Banking domain. They will be responsible for implementing the best technology solutions for our customer’s day to day banking needs. The role requires a recognised technical specialist who can provide insight , expertise and collaborate with others to drive positive outcomes. Working alongside offshore and onshore colleagues, they will be involved in programs that will transform the core banking platforms, modernise our engineering toolkit and enable AIB's best in class digital ambition.
Key accountabilities:
- Responsibility for delivering quality IT solutions - enforces best in class coding and documentation standards, and ensures quality criteria are adhered to for all of the project deliverables
- Is a strong and committed team player capable of supporting a team of engineers to deliver on the banks digital strategy.
- Contributes and helps evolve the engineering landscape through the adoption of new tools and technologies(including AI).
- Cultivates innovation, encourages diverse thinking and develops others through coaching, feedback, and exposure.
- Strong focus on non-functional quality requirements in security, performance, observability, testability and sustainability of technical deliverables.
What you Will Bring:
- 7+ years’ enterprise technology and experience in complex projects that span multiple teams
- Core Banking and/or Payments delivery related experience would be a benefit.
- Experience with current Java technologies, enterprise integration patterns and scalable systems design. Specific skills to include Java, Spring, Spring Boot, REST, SQL, CI/CD Tooling, JSON, XML, Kafka.
- Previous experience of managing and/or leading a development team.
- Expert level understanding of distributed architectures and microservice development.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues and strategy to both technical and non-technical audiences at senior levels within the bank.
- Project and programme management planning and organisational skills with ability to accurately estimate development and testing efforts, identify tasks on the critical path, and asses risk in the overall project.
- Broad understanding of Application, Information and Infrastructure technologies & practices
