About the Data Analytics & Research Support role

The Goodbody Investment Banking Research Team produces research and analysis on the macro economy, specialist sectors and c.90 companies quoted on the Irish, London and European stock exchanges. The Research Team works closely with the Distribution and Trading desks to fully engage with institutional clients on themes, forecasts and analysis that provide insight and expertise for our clients around the world.

Goodbody Analytics department supports a team of top research analysts by enhancing their research output with cutting-edge data analytics techniques. The candidate will work closely alongside senior analysts on a range of projects with the main goal of collecting unique data, finding meaningful insights, and identifying trends. Goodbody Analytics works with real-world data across fields such as macroeconomics, housing, travel, and video games, among others.

Business Accountabilities include:

The candidate will be involved with all key components of the data science pipeline. Main tasks will include (but are not limited to):

• Supporting Research Publishing Process
• Data Acquisition 
• Data Engineering
• Data Storage
• Data Analysis
• Predictive Analytics & Forecasting
• Application of latest AI tools
• Data Visualization.

The ideal candidate must be passionate about data programming, statistics, and the latest advancements in the field of data science and AI, with strong computer science and technical acumen. This is a great opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that champions creativity and curiosity.

Qualifications and Experience

• The ideal candidate should hold a third level qualification at honours standard in either Data Science, Data Analytics or Computer Science
• Proficiency in data programming using R essential
• Proficiency in MS Excel essential
• Knowledge of R libraries such as GGplot, Tidyverse, RMarkdown
• Web data mining, API interactions, JSON/XML data parsing
• SQL, Python, Java
• Power BI
• Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint)
• Data collection, wrangling and cleaning techniques
• Data architectures
• Handling and analysing unstructured data
• Statistical techniques and concepts
• Predictive analytics and forecasting techniques
• Application of AI to bring novel insights and increase productivity
• Finance industry / field knowledge advantageous
