The Business Advisor role will develop, maintain and manage relationships for a portfolio of SME Business Banking customers, having accountability and responsibility for the full relationship management activities, ensuring the customer receives consistently exceptional service and advice, whilst leveraging their relationships to identify new business opportunities and grow the customer base. The role will have an external focus and build a strong external profile in their Local Market delivering positive business outcomes.


Key accountabilities for the role are as follows:

  • Manages and develops relationships with customers in assigned portfolio to achieve Sales and Income goals, retaining and growing business with existing customers and adopts an external focus identifying opportunities with New to Bank customers.
  • Anticipates customer needs and thinks innovatively to deliver highly compelling service propositions and position AIB as the bank of choice for SME business in the Local Market.
  • Navigates AIB and leverages the full suite of AIB products, tools and services to deliver exceptional customer experience and advice, driving digital adoption and an omni-channel approach.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, KBIs and community leaders in the Local Market, in order to build understanding of AIB’s offerings and drive new business opportunities.
  • Provides support and guidance to the wider relationship team to help each individual contribute to the success and achievement of portfolio targets.
  • Ensures personal adherence to AIB standards of credit management and excellence in Operational Risk Management, consistently demonstrating impeccable standards while maintaining/enhancing customer relationships.


What will you need?

  • Strong credit competence and experience
  • Strong knowledge of all AIB SME offerings and an awareness of AIB Personal and Housing product offerings
  • Strong knowledge and experience of SME business banking
  • Track record in delivering sales targets
  • Experience in delivering SME sales
  • While QFA is preferable, minimum requirement of APA Loans and APA Savings & Investments
  • Professional Diploma in SME preferable


In line with our commitment to deliver the most superior experience to the customer, successful candidates will be required to have completed the Qualified Financial Advisor (QFA) qualification or to complete the QFA qualification within two years of their appointment date.


Please note: The Minimum Education requirements for entry to AIB is 5 passes in the Leaving Certificate (or equivalent), to include a pass in English and Maths. These must be achieved at either Ordinary or Honours Level. Confirmation of this will be sought if successful for the role.
