Summary of Role:

Group Compliance is a 2nd line appraisal function established within AIB Group and reports to the Leadership Team and Board Risk Committee. The Upstream Regulation Team sits within Group Compliance and the primary function of the team is to monitor the regulatory horizon and consider the impact of new regulation on AIB.


The primary objectives of the Upstream Regulation team are:

  • To monitor the regulatory horizon for all Conduct, Prudential, AML and Data Protection regulations
  • To review and provide updates and briefings on regulatory matters across AIB
  • To maintain the Regulatory Compliance Universe
  • To manage regulatory interactions with the Central Bank
  • To contribute reports and provide MI on regulatory matters to senior stakeholders
  • To provide support to the CRO and CCO on regulatory matters
  • To assist with regulatory change projects
  • To represent AIB at industry bodies including the BPFI and ACOI


Group Compliance is now seeking applications from ambitious professionals who are keen to pursue a career in compliance based primarily in Dublin. Consideration will also be given to external candidates.


We are looking for someone who can:

  • Manage key business relationships to ensure that business units are aware of new and existing regulations impacting the business and developments in the regulatory environment
  • Provide relevant, consistent and timely advice and support to the business
  • Co-ordinate accurate and timely response to regulatory authorities’ correspondence
  • Represent Upstream Regulation function at governance forums
  • Delivery of training to business on regulatory requirements and regulatory change
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of AIB processes and organisational structure
  • Attend industry events including consultations, briefings, committees and working groups
  • Draft policies and procedures related to the team in line with the Regulatory Compliance Framework

You will need to show us you have:

  1. Have a proven understanding and experience of key banking regulations, directives, standards and guidelines
  2. Have a proven understanding and experience of key banking products.
  3. Have a proven experience of Compliance and Risk Management in a Banking environment and associated risks, clear understanding and knowledge of risk management methodologies.
  4. Have a minimum of eight years in a financial services environment, preferably in a Compliance, Risk or Assurance role
  5. Have a proven experience in managing relationships with business stakeholders and/or regulators
