What is the role

This role is positioned within the IFRS9 Team in Risk Analytics as a Senior Quantitative Risk Analyst.

In Risk Analytics, we develop and support the deployment of risk models, strategies and decision tools for regulatory capital, internal capital and business decision making.

Risk Analytics is part of the Risk Function, this is an independent, second line of defence function that monitors, controls, and supports risk-taking activities across AIB. The purpose of the Risk Function is to provide advice and guidance in relation to risk while providing independent oversight and reporting on AIB’s risk profile. The Risk Function’s main objective is to ensure AIB has a robust risk management framework and culture in place to ensure risks are taken within the risk appetite set by the Board, in support of AIB’s customer franchise and social responsibility.

Key Accountabilities

Leading the development of macroeconomic models, or components thereof, for the estimation of credit risk parameters for use in the calculation of ECL. This includes but is not limited to: Probability of Default (PD), Loss Given Default (LGD), Exposure at Default (EAD) models.
Engagement with stakeholders across the Bank to ensure the models appropriately capture the risk dynamics within the portfolio.
Contributing to the standards, methodologies and toolsets required to perform analytic activities.
Design of model methodology and automation of model development processes.
The extraction and cleansing of data, statistical analysis to support model specification, segmentation, and factor selection, as well as the estimation and back-testing of models in support of same.
Engaging with customer facing Business teams to understand how our analytic outputs can support their decision making.

Credit risk is a dynamic, ever-evolving field and working for Risk Analytics will place you at the vanguard of quantitative risk analysis, regularly implementing the latest published methodologies and creating bespoke in-house solutions to challenging problems, as part of an experienced team where you will receive support and training to help you reach your potential.

As an analyst working in Risk Analytics for a pillar bank in Ireland, your work will make a tangible impact on the stability and performance of AIB and the wider financial system.

What you will bring

3 years’ experience in a model monitoring, model development or model validation role. Examples include: IRB; IFRS 9; loss forecasting; stress testing or economic capital modelling; propensity modelling; or a combination thereof.
A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative analytical discipline (2.1 or higher), e.g. mathematics, applied mathematics, physics, statistics, engineering, econometrics. (Confirmation will be sought if successful for the role.).
Ideally have advanced level of SAS or SQL programming – an equivalent level in an alternate programming language would be consider (e.g. R, Python, Matlab). Advanced experience in extracting, transforming, and cleaning data for modelling purposes.
Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as QlikView, Power BI, SAS VA or Tableau.
Strong ability to build relationships and communicate with key stakeholders; Curiosity and inventiveness. Good problem solving skills with capability to defend their decisions from challenge both on a technical and business front.

What is the Role:

Reporting to the Model Risk Manager – AI systems, Governance & MI, this role will be key in AIB’s implementation and ongoing compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements and best practices in relation to the management and oversight of Model & AI Risk.

You will support second line governance and challenge across both traditional models and AI systems, including machine learning, general purpose AI, agentic systems and third-party AI solutions, with particular focus on risk classification, control design, lifecycle governance and oversight.

The role-holder will play a key part in shaping and embedding AIB’s Model & AI Risk governance approach, ensuring the organisation can safely adopt, scale and govern emerging AI technologies (including machine learning, general purpose AI and agentic systems) while maintaining ongoing compliance with evolving regulatory expectations.

What you Will Bring ;

Relevant 3rd level qualification
3+ years' experience within a similar area (preferably Project Finance or Specialised Lending) which could include Banking, Advisory or Industry
Strong Financial Analysis, Strong credit skills and Proficiency in financial modelling
A proven awareness of sustainable lending,
Analytical mindset and results focussed, who is also a Team player with strong communication and influencing skills
Knowledge and experience of the development and business application of credit risk modules utilised for the calculation of regulatory capital or ECL would be beneficial

Compliance Monitoring Specialist, Group Compliance (Dublin, IE, IE)

Location/Office Policy: AIB Group, Molesworth Street/Central Park, (Hybrid Working: 3 days in office)

What is the Role:

Compliance Monitoring is a ‘Second Line of Defence’ team led by the Head of Compliance Monitoring (HoM). The team sits within the Compliance function which is led by the Group Chief Compliance Officer and is part of Group Risk.

The Compliance Monitoring team assesses adherence to regulatory obligations through an annual risk‑based Compliance Monitoring Plan, delivering ongoing monitoring to identify non‑compliance and potential regulatory risk.

Key accountabilities;

The purpose of this role is to support the Compliance Monitoring Manager and Head of Compliance Monitoring in delivering high quality, risk-based Compliance Monitoring activities across AIB. Monitoring activities include:

Delivery of high-quality Compliance Monitoring activities which includes continuous testing, thematic and ad-hoc reviews to test both compliance with regulation/legislation and the delivery of fair customer outcomes.
Independently lead monitoring reviews as required, including scoping, execution and reporting.
Consult with the Compliance Advisory Teams in order to ensure that the selection, scope setting and approach to delivering reviews is planned and targeted effectively.
Complete review planning, taking into consideration regulatory requirements, breaches, complaints, and other relevant information as appropriate.
Undertake testing; recording testing, findings and agreed actions in accordance with the defined compliance monitoring methodology.
Ensure that where issues are identified that appropriate mitigating actions are agreed with the business and tracked through to completion.
Draft formal monitoring reports to note the outcomes of testing and seek formal approval.
On an ad hoc basis assist the Monitoring Manager and Head of Compliance with tasks such as reporting to committees/boards and other tasks that filter from Compliance Senior Management Team.
Develop positive and professional working relationships within Risk, Compliance and business area stakeholders.

What you Will Bring;

For this role, there is a preference for candidates with or willing to complete ACOI Diploma in Compliance or equivalent Compliance, Risk and Control or Audit qualifications.
Have a minimum of five years’ experience in a financial services Compliance, Risk Management or Audit environment.
Have a proven understanding of risks and experience of financial services industry regulations, key banking processes, financial products and/or systems.
Have clear understanding and up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging compliance risks and risk management methodologies.
Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Have strong planning and organisation skills.
Have strong attention to detail.
Experience using data analysis tools, and copilot would be advantageous.
