What is the Role:

This role is positioned within the IRB Model Development Team as a Senior Quantitative Risk Analyst.

In Risk Analytics, we develop and support the deployment of risk models, strategies and decision tools for regulatory capital, internal capital and business decision making.

Risk Analytics is part of the Risk Function, this is an independent, second line of defence function that monitors, controls, and supports risk-taking activities across AIB. The purpose of the Risk Function is to provide advice and guidance in relation to risk while providing independent oversight and reporting on AIB’s risk profile. The Risk Function’s main objective is to ensure AIB has a robust risk management framework and culture in place to ensure risks are taken within the risk appetite set by the Board, in support of AIB’s customer franchise and social responsibility.

Key accountabilities.

Analysis & investigation: Undertake and guide junior analysts in various complex data analyses, investigations and/or modelling of business issues to improve the management, services, and products of the bank.
Predictive model development: Take a leading role in building predictive models that are focussed on core business elements, such as automated decisioning, capital requirements and loss expectations.
Data insights: Perform and guide junior analysts in exploratory and ad-hoc data analysis with a view to generating insights and using this to deliver actionable recommendations to the Business.
Risk segmentation analysis: Creating segmentations that allow us to better understand the risks present in our lending portfolio and what we can do to better manage the risks.
Leadership: Mentoring and guidance for junior analysts. Also, there will be responsibility for reviewing work carried out by junior team members.
Digital protection: Access / utilise bank data within the policies and frameworks required by AIB.

What you Will Bring;

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a model monitoring, model development or model validation role. Examples include IRB; IFRS 9; loss forecasting; stress testing or economic capital modelling; propensity modelling; or a combination thereof.
A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative analytical discipline (2.1 or higher), e.g., mathematics, applied mathematics, physics, statistics, engineering, econometrics. (Confirmation will be sought if successful for the role.).
Ideally have advanced level of SAS or SQL programming – an equivalent level in an alternate programming language would be consider (e.g., R, Python, Matlab). Advanced experience in extracting, transforming, and cleaning data for modelling purposes.
Experience writing technical documents that meet internal and regulatory standards. Experience in engagement with regulatory or audit bodies;
Strong ability to build relationships and communicate with key stakeholders, Curiosity, and inventiveness.
Curiosity and inventiveness. Good problem solving skills with capability to defend their decisions from challenge both on a technical and business front.

Running Financial Information Management reports.
Monitoring data visualisation batches and fixing issues.

There will be at least 1 rotation, where we will challenge you to ensure your learning and development potential is maximised over the duration of the programme.

Graduates on this programme are given the opportunity to attend online courses in UCD to supplement on the job learning . There you will be able to develop a range of important skills, including practical data manipulation, visualisation, analytics, and machine learning. The programme assessment is project based enabling you to demonstrate your understanding and familiarity of each semester’s content in a work themed, practical way. Legal:

 The Legal Function has responsibility and accountability for the provision of all legal services within the AIB Group. The objective of the Legal Function is to work collaboratively with the business and support units that we provide services to, and to ensure that our advice is pragmatic, commercial and customer focused. The Legal Function also plays a key role in controlling external legal spend to maximise value and avoid unnecessary external instructions. What is the Role

Group Compliance is an independent, second line of defence function established within the Risk function. An opportunity now exists for a Financial Prudential Advisory Lead which will be a leadership role working within the Prudential Advisory team, which sits within Regulatory Compliance.

The Prudential Advisory team are responsible for providing guidance on both financial and non-financial prudential regulations. Key accountabilities

Manage the delivery and development of a comprehensive proactive, independent second line regulatory compliance plan across the Group through the development and implementation of a robust regulatory compliance risk assessment process

Summary of role:

The role is positioned within the Regulatory Interpretation workstream of the Enterprise Internal Ratings Based (IRB) Programme which sits within AIB’s Risk Function.

The main objective of the Enterprise IRB Programme is to deliver a comprehensive IRB infrastructure and model suite which will deliver broad benefits to the Group including regulatory compliance, capital management and enhanced business decision making. The Regulatory Interpretation workstream is an enablement workstream that supports all other IRB Programme workstreams to ensure that the Group’s IRB rating systems are regulatory compliant. This opportunity will suit someone with experience of interpreting prudential regulations and/or someone with a Credit risk background with an understanding of regulatory guidelines that underpin the Credit Policy suite.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter capable of bringing colleagues from different viewpoints together to achieve optimum solutions. The candidate will demonstrate willingness to expand within the role given that the role also requires broader enterprise engagement. The role provides an opportunity to influence enhancements to the control environment for IRB and to work alongside internal and external colleagues with a broad spectrum of experience across Credit Risk Modelling & Validation, Credit Risk Management, Business Lending, Data Management, Regulatory Compliance and Technical Implementation.

We're looking for someone who can:

Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of IRB regulatory requirements by leveraging both programme and Group compliance processes.
