What is the Role:

 

Risk Assurance and Validation (RAV) is a 2nd line appraisal function led by the Group Chief Compliance Officer within Risk and reports to the Chief Risk Officer, Group Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee.

The team conducts a continuous and comprehensive review of IT, Cyber and Data risk (including Third-Party) throughout the Group in accordance with the Group Risk Assurance Plan. The RAV challenges and influences the business to ensure its control environment is robust and effective to mitigate the risks across the Group and the subsidiaries.

 

Acting as the ‘Second Line of Defence’, the primary objectives of Risk Assurance are to assess the risks and controls defined and operated by the business across ROI, UK and US, to provide an independent evaluation of the design and effectiveness of the controls in place for policies, processes and systems to manage risk and compliance with regulations.

Assuring the control environment supporting the delivery of change projects within AIB and the management of data used by the bank to manage, monitor and report on its business activities.

These assessments conclude with the preparation and agreement of detailed reports to senior management, including reports to the Group Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee on the findings, key issues and actions.

 

Key accountabilities:

 

  • Assist the team to deliver a comprehensive proactive, independent second line assurance reports for the bank and associated subsidiaries across Technology, Cyber and Data (including Third-Party) assurance plan.
  • This includes supporting the development and implementation of a robust risk assessment process, maintaining the Technology, Cyber and Data (including Third-Party) assurance universe and assessing on a regular basis.
  • Support the delivery and management of risk-based assurance reviews that effectively challenges and influences senior management/ business leaders through the agreement and reporting of assurance findings which drive improvements in the control environment to support risk management practices.
  • Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments/ guidance issued continuously across RoI, UK, US and Europe for Technology, Cyber and Data (including Third-Party), whilst testing the effectiveness of the control environment. Like DORA
  • Apply knowledge, technical insights and support the team in learning and developing through analysis and shared experience.
  • Support the delivery and manage reviews with a strong technical focus from beginning to end including definition of scope, test strategy, execution of testing, summary of issues and final report.
  • Manage the resolution of agreed exceptions with the business areas and stakeholders within agreed timelines.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of AIB processes.

 

What you Will Bring:

 

  • For this role, there is a preference for professionally qualified candidates (ideally CISA / CISM / CRISC / CISSP) or candidates undergoing or willing to take these exams. In addition, PMP / PRINCE 2 certification will be an added advantage.
  • Have a proven understanding and experience of financial services industry products and regulations.
  • Have a proven experience of compliance, risk management or audit in a banking environment and associated risks, clear understanding and knowledge of control and risk management methodologies.
  • Have a proven experience in the management of at least one of the following: Technology, Cyber and Data (including Third-Party).
  • Have a minimum of four years’ experience in a financial services risk management environment.
