Legal, Corporate Governance and Customer Care

Legal

As one of Ireland’s largest teams of in-house lawyers, Legal provides legal advice and support to AIB on all aspects of its business.  We are a cohesive, innovative group, comprised of both lawyers and non-lawyers, who understand the businesses we serve and work with them to protect and enable AIB as it meets the challenges of becoming a purpose-led, 21st century bank.

Corporate Governance

The Corporate Governance team, which incorporates the company secretarial function, ensures a simple, efficient and compliant corporate governance structure is in place to support the Board and Executive. It helps the business and our leaders achieve AIB's strategic objectives by advising on all aspects of corporate governance.

Customer Care & Outcomes

The core purpose of our Customer Care & Outcome function is to deliver fair customer outcomes. We do this by applying a rigorous conduct lens to everything we do, providing customer care when things go wrong and using robust root cause analysis to learn and mitigate future risks.

Risk

Group Risk is an independent, second line of defence that monitors, controls and supports risk-taking activities across AIB. The Risk Function provides advice and guidance in relation to risk and provides independent oversight and reporting on AIB’s risk profile.

Its main objective is to ensure AIB has a robust risk management framework and culture in place to ensure risks are taken within the risk appetite set by the Board, in support of its customer franchise and social responsibility.

There are over 600 Risk professionals working within the Risk Function, across a range of teams including Compliance & Assurance, Credit Risk, Operational Risk among others and based in multiple geographical locations.

Group Internal Audit

Group Internal Audit is not your typical audit function. We’re on an ambitious journey to create the best function we can for AIB and our people. Through our audit charter, we operate independently as the third line of defence to provide assurance to our stakeholders on the adequacy and effectiveness of AIB’s governance, risk management and internal control environment.

Most importantly, we believe that great people are the key to our success. This is why we work hard to build a team of empowered individuals who are driven to excel through collaboration, inclusion and diversity; embracing the unique strengths and insights everyone brings.

Our function includes teams such as Sustainability, Group Marketing, Group Strategy, Corporate Development, Customer Care, Internal Communications, Media Relations, Public Affairs and the Office of the CEO.  Our stakeholders are both internal and external ranging from customers to colleagues, to journalists, politicians, community partners and many others.

Climate Capital

At AIB, we’re making a difference to how businesses contribute to climate action. We’re aiming to make 70 percent of our lending green or transition by 2030 and we’ve set up a €30 billion climate action fund.

To achieve these exciting goals, we need a bigger team. We’re hiring people who want to make a difference. We’re particularly interested in hearing from you if you have a background in financial modelling and experience in banking advisory or industry generally. You might be starting out in those areas or experienced, either way, let’s hear from you.

You can be part of Climate Capital, where we provide large scale lending to renewables and infrastructure projects in Ireland, UK, Europe and USA.
