What is the Role:

 

The Group Internal Audit (GIA) Function is an independent, third line of defence function with primary responsibility to the Group's Board of Directors through the Board Audit Committee. GIA assists the Board of Directors in carrying out its corporate governance responsibilities by providing an independent view on the key risks facing the Group, and on the adequacy and effectiveness of the system of governance, risk management and internal control in managing these risks.

 

The role is positioned within the GIA Credit Team where we undertake reasonable and independent assurance on the management of Credit Risk and its associated control environment, across the First and Second Lines of Defence. GIA are seeking an ambitious professional with a credit background to join the Credit Team to assist in the preparation and delivery of the risk-based audit plan. The role will involve supporting the Team Leader/Head of Audit on credit audits from beginning to end, involved in defining the audit scope, test strategy, execution of testing, reporting and providing independent assurance over the Bank’s operation and effectiveness of internal controls. Additionally, the role will focus on assessing the implementation of agreed actions with the business areas and stakeholders.

 

 

We’re looking for someone who can:

 

  • Assist in the preparation of risk-based credit audit plans and programmes of work to support the delivery of an audit opinion to the board.
  • Assist and support in the execution of audits from beginning to end including definition of audit scope, test strategy, execution of testing, summary of issues and final report.
  • Assist in the management of the resolution of agreed exceptions with the business areas and stakeholders within agreed timeframes.
  • Review and interpret processed data to identify trends and investigate exceptional items.
  • Actively develop and maintain positive working relationships with management within the business to enhance the effectiveness and reputation of GIA.
  • Engage with the various stakeholders in the end-to-end audit process.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of GIA's audit methodology standards, processes and AIB organisational structures.

 

 

What You Will Bring :

 

  1. A third level qualification in related subject preferably audit, accountancy, risk, or compliance
  2. 2+ years experience working in credit management/ risk management or audit in a large consultancy firm, ideally within financial services
  3. An understanding of the components of credit applications and the associated key credit management judgements over the credit lifecycle (both origination and credit management). Examples can include (but not limited to): front line credit lending, second line challenge, first- and second-line assurance.
  4. Knowledge of the impacts of credit management actions on key credit risk data, expected credit losses (ECL), Significant Increase in Credit Risk (SICR), modelled outputs and capital requirements.
  5. Knowledge of risk management methodologies and frameworks, in particular Credit Risk and the regulatory environment in which financial services / banking operates.
  6. Have good communication skills.
  7. Detail focussed and ability to manage and organise priorities.
  8. Be a self-starter who can either work independently or as part of a team.
  9. Ability to work to deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
