Summary of role:

 

Within Treasury the Funding & Liquidity (F&L) function is a mission critical activity in AIB, managing the Group’s short term liquidity, long term debt, hybrid capital issuance activity and structured finance (securitisation) transactions of the Group. Securitisation is used by AIB as a balance sheet management tool for liquidity and capital purposes.

 

Within the overall F&L team a vacancy now exists as Senior Manager directing the securitisation activities of the Group with reference to, (1) the Setanta programme of Synthetic SRT securitisations, and (2) the Burlington RMBS programme. This role has a “material impact” on the banks risk position. 

 

Synthetic SRT is recognised by the ECB and EU policy makers as an essential tool in the management of balance sheet risk and the provision of credit to the real economy by banks.  AIB’s financial plan and capital strategy envisages using SRT to this end. The purpose of the role is to ensure AIB has the organisational structure and capability to support the delivery of strategy.

 

The role will entail engagement with senior stakeholders across multiple parts of the organisation, externally with investors, the regulator, and be responsible for presenting to various Board and executive committee functions with respect to SRT strategy formulation and transaction execution.

 

This leadership role entails the assessment, oversight, management, reporting and adherence to a variety of regulatory and policy requirements. Ongoing proactive interaction with market counterparts, structured finance advisors, regulatory bodies, and a broad range of relevant internal stakeholders.

 

There is a requirement for the job holder to have relevant related product, regulatory and management knowledge and experience including, capital management, financial planning, balance sheet optimisation, securitisation and project/transaction management. The role involves applying clear standards of professionalism in all activities with excellent leadership, communication and presentation skills expected.

 

 

Key accountabilities:

 

  • Deliver AIB’s strategic capital and risk management goals regarding Synthetic SRT, and liquidity risk management goals, regarding the Setanta and Burlington securitisation programmes.
  • Successfully execute all securitisation capital and liquidity projects/transactions (new and refinancing), meeting financial plan objectives, realising benefits, managing risk, in line with cost and transaction delivery timelines.
  • Engage with internal capital and risk management stakeholders, plus external advisors, in regards balance sheet portfolio analysis, pool selection and transaction structuring, under normal and stressed balance sheet scenario’s. 
  • Prepare, submit, and as required present all external and external submissions, applications, reports and papers to the relevant bodies and fora.
  • Deliver SRT investor strategy (in co-operation with AIB Investor Relations), both on a transaction specific basis, and on an ongoing basis.
  • Manage all outstanding Setanta and Burlington transactions on an ongoing basis meeting all regulatory, legal, and internal AIB requirements (i.e. risk frameworks, policies and metrics). Review and update SRT Operating Framework with respect to changes to regulatory requirements, AIB businesses, data and IT systems.
  • Ensure that developments in the external environment, be it regulatory, investor and peer issuers, are identified, assessed, with relevant insights integrated into AIBs securitisation strategy, and prospective transaction structures executed. 
  • Significant project management and co-ordination capabilities are required given the variety and quantum of different elements necessary to manage programmes of new and existing transactions.
  • Drive Treasury performance through the creation of a high performance collaborative culture measured by progress on Engagement, Performance Management, Internal Communications and role modelling Leadership Behaviours.
