The Operational Risk Senior Risk Analyst is a key member of the Operational Risk management team responsible for ensuring the management of the Bank’s operational risks, working with all areas across AIB.  Working in this role will require:

  • Review and challenge AIB’s operational risk profile, ensuring risks are effectively identified, managed, and reported in line with the Bank’s framework.
  • Provide expert guidance to the Board, CRO, and key stakeholders on operational and emerging risks, trends, and future outlooks.
  • Promote a strong risk culture where risks are clearly understood and managed within appetite.
  • Leverage strategic initiatives to reduce operational risk, enhance resilience, and deliver business value.
  • A high-performing, agile team that fosters collaboration and supports the Group’s strategic goals

What is the Role:

 

The Risk Function in AIB is an independent, second line of defence function that monitors, controls and supports risk-taking activities across AIB.  The purpose of the Risk Function is to provide advice and guidance in relation to risk while providing independent oversight and reporting on AIB’s risk profile.

 

The Operational Risk team is a second line risk function responsible for supporting the management of the Bank’s operational risks, working with all areas across AIB. It is a very exciting time in the Operational Risk Team with opportunities for further career development and growth.

 

 

Key accountabilities;

 

  • Analyse data, identify trends, draw conclusions and complete reports and reviews on a monthly and quarterly basis for senior stakeholders
  • Understand business processes, the operational risks inherent in them and the appropriate controls to mitigate those risks.
  • Influence senior management in decision making to ensure that business activities operate within defined risk appetites and controls are operating effectively.
  • Challenge and influence 1LOD risk identification, assessment, management and reporting of Operational risks.
  • Able to build business relationships with senior leaders to assist in implementation of Operational risk initiatives. Operates at a Group wide level and Interacts with external stakeholders such as regulatory bodies.
  • Uses professional and independent risk judgement to develop recommendations for process/policy enhancements.
  • Manage ongoing development of a reporting suite and summary dashboards which facilitate timely and meaningful oversight;
  • Ensure all Operational Risk frameworks and policies are fully compliant with relevant recommendations and guidance from the relevant authorities and financial regulators, (e.g. EU, CBI, EBA, BCBS, PRA/FCA); and
  • Champions a Customer First culture in support of our Purpose, strategic ambition and Brand Values, by ensuring processes and procedures consistently promote good outcomes for all our customers.
  • Maintain highly effective and influential relationships, to ensure that the Operational Risk environment and Risk Culture for the group is improving.
  • Provide relevant, consistent, and timely risk appropriate advice and support on operational risk matters.

 

 

What you Will Bring ;

 

  • Min of 5 years’ experience in financial services in a Risk management role, preferably in a control function, risk function or internal Audit.
  • Relevant professional qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Effective relationship management, communication and influencing skills both written and verbal at senior levels.
  • Understands and applies risk principles and tools.
  • Proven report writing capabilities and experience of analysing and interpreting data.
