What is the Role:
This is a senior role within the Technology & Data organisation forming an integral part of the Homes Tribe management team, reporting directly to the Homes Tribe Tech Lead. You will have leadership accountability for the Mortgages technology platforms which includes Service Assurance, Technology Solutioning and Complex IT Change Delivery activities. You will function as a recognised Senior Software Engineering Specialist, providing insight and expertise in directing a cross-functional team and ensuring maximum productivity by constantly monitoring and improving the team’s software engineering practice. You will also develop the long term strategic roadmap for this domain , taking the sustainability of the technology into account. The Mortgage systems span both Digital and Staff Assisted mortgage journeys across all brands and the role you will work closely with the key stakeholders to deliver the best outcomes for the Bank and its customers in an agile way. This role will be key to the implementation of the planned transformation agenda leading to the consolidation of platforms.
Key accountabilities:
- Accountability for Mortgage Platforms (customer, staff assisted and digital channels) which includes driving the service assurance model, managing risk, developing strategic roadmaps around technical health and delivering on complex change delivery for those platforms.
- Lead a highly performing technical team to design, deliver and sustain IT solutions for the Mortgages business taking a ‘Customer First’ approach to all decision making.
- Lead the long-term IT strategy across the full technology estate , seeking the best outcomes for the organisation and driving the necessary transformation with the long term view in mind.
- Driving the delivery of complex end-to-end IT solutions, across multiple cross-functional squads, to enable business strategy and remediate legacy IT debt.
- Defining target IT architecture and driving plans to enable business strategy through deployment of sustainable technologies.
- Providing technical expertise, covering technology modernisation, full-stack software delivery and CI/CD.
- Strategic Management of IT partners and vendors and relationships.
- Maximise the Agile approach and opportunities to automate in the delivery of the right outcomes for the organisation in a cost effective way, ensuring that optimal value is achieved.
- Deliver clear information to Senior IT and Business stakeholders around the strategy for the domain and the status of the initiatives in flight, in particular where challenges emerge in the delivery of change programmes
- Act as a key influencer at a senior level in Technology and Data, OBS and the broader business in aligning the IT enablement with the overall business strategy.
- Collaborate with other Technology areas, building strong working relationships with key senior stakeholders, to actively build positive collaboration and trust across Technology and Data SMT and the CTO while providing strategic technology advice to key AIB senior business leaders and SMTs through fora such as TDAC
What you Will Bring:
- A minimum of 5 years’ in a senior technology role with experience of managing complex technology platforms and agile delivery of technology change, preferably in a financial services /mortgage products context.
- Strategic thinking on the broader technology landscape along with deep knowledge of Application, Information and Infrastructure technologies and best / emerging practices; spanning agile methodologies, common architectural design patterns, microservices, data and CI/CD.
- Strong record of collaboration and influence with internal and external IT partners (nearshore and offshore) and IT vendors / service providers.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences at senior levels within the bank.
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills, with ability to build productive working relationships with internal teams, management and external stakeholders.
