What is the Role:
The Group Strategy & Sustainability team is a group function responsible for development of the Group’s medium-term strategy and embedding sustainable practices across the Group. Led by the Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer, the team brings a solution-oriented mindset to progress an array of local and global imperatives.
Within the Group Strategy and Sustainability function, the Group Strategy team, led by the Head of Group Strategy, is responsible for driving strategic planning at enterprise level. The team explores a range of strategic options, identifies strategic priorities that optimise stakeholder value in the near and long term and translates this into a comprehensive strategic plan. In addition, the team undertakes deep dives on key business issues, as required.
The Strategist assists the Head of Group Strategy and Senior Strategists in developing, communicating, and monitoring effectiveness of the business unit strategy. Their role will include support of the annual Strategy planning process; undertaking an assessment of the wider business environment; research and analysis of key business issues; and reporting of the Strategic Outcomes Report to the Group Board on a quarterly basis.
Key accountabilities.
- Support the work of the Group Strategy team to explore a range of strategic options, identify strategic priorities that maximise shareholder value in the near and long term and translate these into a comprehensive strategic plan.
- Use the team’s strategic, analytical and financial frameworks to conduct analysis which progresses strategic imperatives and deconstructs critical business issues.
- Bring a strategic and solutions-oriented mindset to support Team activity to optimise strategic opportunities for the Group and address business critical topics.
- Assist, where required, in-depth reviews providing intelligence on market trends; competitor actions (both traditional and non-traditional disruptors); and the evolving regulatory and macro-economic landscape.
- Support the Group’s strategy planning and business model assessment processes.
- Play a key role in provision of executive-ready reporting on performance, strategy and events affecting business, including opportunities in the marketplace.
- Provide thought-leadership to the strategy function and senior executives on a range of business-critical topics.
- Advise on optimum resource allocation and management against strategic priorities with clear accountabilities, governance, and capability enablers to deliver results in the short, medium, and long-term.
- Promote an understanding of and ensure appropriate use of data, strategic planning, and business planning models throughout the organization.
- Build partnerships, work collaboratively with others on the Group Strategy team to meet goals. Act as a team player.
What you Will Bring ;
- A highly motivated self-starter with 5+ years relevant industry, business, and strategy experience. Strategy / Corporate Finance / Consulting background is preferred.
- Experience in the development of impactful corporate-level strategy that has made a difference for a large, complex organisation.
- Strong research and analytical skills with related ability to clearly articulate proposals, including the ability to interpret complex financial and non-financial data and develop actionable insights.
- A strong team-player mindset, coupled with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across a large, complex organisation.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership and stakeholders.
