What is the role?

We are looking for a strategic and insight-driven Customer Strategy Manager to help shape and drive our understanding of customers across the Personal and Business markets. You’ll play a key role in supporting the Head of Customer Strategy and Programmes within the Strategy & Propositions team in the Chief Customer Office (CCO) in the development and rollout of our overarching customer strategy, while staying ahead of emerging market and consumer trends that will influence our future positioning and proposition development. This will also ensure our customer segmentation remains current, actionable, and embedded across the organisation. You are passionate about customer insight, strategic thinking, and creating meaningful change for our customers. Your work will directly impact how we meet evolving customer needs, improving our internal capability, differentiate in a competitive market, and deliver long-term value.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Identify and synthesise external market intelligence, competitor strategies, consumer behaviour shifts, and emerging trends to inform future strategy and assist the propositions teams and the wider CCO function in their planning.
  • Develop compelling strategic narratives and presentations for senior stakeholders, enabling alignment and engagement around customer priorities. Market / Customer shifts and emerging trends
  • Own the development, maintenance, and regular updating of our customer segmentation framework to reflect evolving behaviours, needs, and market dynamics.
  • Work with data and analytics teams to deepen understanding of customer behaviours, needs, and lifetime value across segments.
  • Work closely with proposition teams and key business areas to ensure segmentation is consistently embedded in decision-making, targeting, and planning.
  • Translate segmentation insights into practical recommendations for propositions, customer journeys, and channel strategies.
  • Support capability-building across teams by championing the use of segmentation and strategic insight in their work.
  • Own and drive the embedding of segment views across core data sets, dashboards and research where needed
  • Partner with the Head of Customer Strategy to shape and evolve our customer strategy in alignment with business priorities and future market conditions.
  • Work closely with our Group strategy colleagues to ensure alignment and that this area adds value to the group strategy process and outputs

 

What you will bring

  • Strong experience (5+ years) in customer strategy, segmentation, insight, or strategic marketing – ideally within financial services or a customer-centric sector.
  • Deep understanding of customer segmentation methodologies and how they can be applied and embedded to drive value across organisations
  • Comfortable with ‘data’, always looking for new ways to look at segments and drive improved insight
  • Strategic mindset with a strong ability to synthesise complex data and insight into clear, actionable strategies.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and change, with a proactive and forward-thinking approach.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills – able to influence stakeholders and drive action through insight.
  • Passionate about customer behaviour, trends, and innovation, with a track record of horizon scanning and applying external perspectives.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to manage stakeholders at multiple levels
