About the Role:

 

Our teams work to provide insightful financial information to inform decision making across AIB, meet our regulatory commitments, manage AIB’s capital, liquidity and cost effectively and protect the assets of our business for the long term. The First Line Assurance team within Finance is a dynamic and highly motivated team which strives to make a real difference to first line risk culture and drive better outcomes for our customers, staff and business. The team provides operational risk oversight, analysis and assurance on the quality and effectiveness of the risk environment in line with the Finance business strategy. The team works across all of Finance and this role is a great opportunity to learn and develop a deep knowledge of the Finance business.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead the implementation of the First Line Assurance Framework, Methodology and Operational risk policy across Finance which seeks to minimise risk exposure arising from operational risk and assurance activity with a balanced focus on prevention rather than remediation.
  • Influence and drive a strong adherence to regulatory and Bank policies, ensuring governance policies are clearly understood and sufficiently trained / embedded.
  • Understand complex operational and governance issues and provide informed advice, guidance and challenge ensuring the Bank’s purpose, strategic ambition and values of Customer First and Eliminating Complexity are fully considered.
  • Provide Senior Management with ongoing insight into the robustness of the internal control culture and control knowledge, embeddedness and execution standards in their business.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Finance business operating model and the underlying processes and systems supporting it.
  • Represent Finance at appropriate senior Enterprise governance meetings and liaise with Risk Management, Internal Audit and external bodies and regulators as required.
  • Manage, coach and develop the Finance Assurance team to deliver the assurance, governance and operational risk objectives of the team in a timely manner.

 

What you will bring:

  1. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Risk, Assurance, Audit or other role with relevant Operational Risk experience.  A degree in a relevant discipline and/or a professional qualification would be desirable.
  2. Knowledge of Finance products, processes and systems would be an advantage.
  3. Be motivated, enthusiastic, and forward looking, a critical thinker who can understand the impact of decisions at an organisational level.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communications with proven experience in influencing and managing senior stakeholder expectations.
  5. Ability to manage, coach and develop a blend of experienced and new staff to deliver on competing priorities against tight deadlines
  6. Excellent stakeholder management skills including demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
