This role is being offered on a permanent basis.

 

Commercial Finance is an established Business Unit within AIB plc, and is part of the newly formed Business Banking – Business Centres Unit within Corporate, Institutional and Business Banking.  It is a customer facing Unit with full responsibility for AIB’s Invoice Finance proposition and the management of the facility.  The area provides customers with a convenient and cost effective cash flow solution, providing ongoing access to working capital finance.

Teamwork is key to achieving success and ensuring practical business solutions are deployed.  Commercial Finance works in partnership with counterparts across the wider Bank to ensure that the Invoice Finance proposition is core to AIB’s credit product offering and is in line with AIB’s SME and Corporate propositions.

An opportunity has arisen to join our Client Relations Team which comprises of eleven individuals and is the cornerstone of our customer management and relationship functions.  Reporting to a Client Relations Team Leader, you will be primarily responsible for a portfolio of business clients in addition to some people leader duties.  The role requires individuals who have good people management skills, customer relationship management, credit and/or invoice finance experience and excellent interpersonal skills. The role involves daily interaction with both clients and other areas within the Bank and Unit.

 

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Manage a portfolio of business clients ensuring that there is a balanced and consistent approach between risk, relationship and reward. 
  • Develop and maintain an excellent working relationship with clients through regular engagement, ensuring that Invoice Finance meets their working capital requirements.  Liaise closely with the Bank’s Primary Relationship Managers (PRM) to ensure that a one Bank approach and strategy is adopted for each client.
  • Prepare and submit credit applications through appropriate channels within agreed timelines.  Strict adherence to both the Unit’s and Bank’s credit policies.
  • Consistently provide high levels of customer service, ensuring that any issues are addressed at an early stage.
  • Management of Risk on the portfolio through early identification of potential problems, monthly trend analysis, portfolio reviews, financial analysis and developing a good understanding of client’s businesses.  Devise and implement strategies to minimise risk and ensure that our security is protected, working closely with the Unit’s Audit and Collateral Teams in this regard.
  • Identify opportunities to increase the usage of Invoice Finance, thereby further contributing to the Unit’s bottom line profitability.
  • Develop a good working relationship both in the team and in the wider Unit, promoting a positive and collaborative team ethos.  
  • Keep fully up to date with developments within the Unit, participating in out of course projects and becoming an active member of the Unit.
  • Ensure that you manage an appropriate balance between delivery of personal objectives/responsibilities and contributing to Team and Unit objectives/responsibilities.

You will need to show us that you can/have:

  1. Experience in managing or co-managing a portfolio of business customers
  2. Customer relationship management, credit and/or invoice finance experience.
  3. Strong interpersonal/people management skills
  4. Knowledge of financial and regulatory requirements including the ability to understand and interpret Financial Statements including Balance Sheets, Profit and Loss Accounts, Cash flows, budgets and projections
  5. Strong Communication, networking and influencing skills

 

Please note: The Minimum Education requirements for entry to AIB is 5 passes in the Leaving Certificate (or equivalent), to include a pass in English and Maths. These must be achieved at either Ordinary or Honours Level. Confirmation of this will be sought if successful for the role.
