Summary of Role:

Risk, under the direction of the Chief Risk Officer, is an independent, second line of defence, function that monitors, controls, guides, protects and supports all risk-taking activities across AIB, and includes the Group Compliance function. Group Compliance is an independent, second line of defence function established within the Risk function. The Compliance Advisory & Data Protection Team sits within Group Compliance.


Group Compliance is now seeking applications from ambitious professionals who are keen to pursue a career in Regulatory Compliance and Data Protection.


We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Constructively engage with key business relationships to ensure that business units are aware of new and existing regulations impacting the business and developments in the regulatory and data protection environment an instil ownership of risk in the first line of defence.
  • Provide relevant, consistent and timely risk appropriate advice and support to the business.
  • Co-ordinate accurate and timely response to regulatory authorities’ correspondence including acting as a point of contact for the Data Protection Commissioner.
  • Represent the Compliance and Data Protection function at governance and business forums and provide insights for reporting to the CEO and Board through Risk Committees.
  • Delivery of training to business on regulatory requirements and regulatory change.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of AIB processes and organisational structure.
  • Attend industry events including consultations, briefings, and committees and working groups as required.
  • Draft policies and procedures related to data protection, regulatory compliance and conduct risk.
  • Support and embed a strong risk culture at all times throughout the organisation.

You will need to show us that you can/have:

  • Have a minimum of 4 years in a financial services environment, preferably in a Compliance, Risk, or Data Protection role.
  • Have a proven understanding and experience of key banking regulations, directives, standards and guidelines, including GDPR. 
  • Have a proven understanding and experience of key banking products.
  • Have a proven experience of Compliance in a financial or banking environment.
  • A clear understanding and knowledge of risk management methodologies.
  • Have proven experience in managing relationships with business stakeholders and/or regulators.


Please note: The Minimum Education requirements for entry to AIB is 5 passes in the Leaving Certificate (or equivalent), to include a pass in English and Maths. These must be achieved at either Ordinary or Honours Level. Confirmation of this will be sought if successful for the role.
