Summary of role:


Credit Risk is a Second Line function responsible for the review and challenge of credit risk proposals for customers. Vacancies now exist on the Corporate & Treasury, Real Estate Finance, & Business Centre Credit Teams, assessing proposals for SME and Corporate Borrowers.  You will have responsibility for the delivery of a professional lending service to a number of Business teams and ultimately the Banks customers.


We’re looking for someone who:

  1. Credit Management – You will be responsible for participating in and, (role dependant) managing a team of Credit Risk underwriters who guide First Line Management in support of the customer agenda, while providing a strong Second Line challenge, in line with the Bank’s Credit Risk Appetite and Policies demonstrating that decisions have been undertaken in a balanced and objective way.
  2. Anticipates the reaction of others and adapts communication and influencing approaches accordingly.
  3. Negotiates and facilitates effectively in a range of situations to achieve the optimum result.
  4. Delivers performance through people – supporting performance and development.
  5. Has a proven ability to make timely and quality decisions.

You will need to show us that you can/have:

  1. Proven high level of Credit Skills with good commercial awareness, including an ability to interpret and challenge. Demonstrated ability to provide robust 2nd line review and challenge & maintain resilience in a dynamic and fluid Credit environment.
  2. Evidence of high standards of professionalism in relation to Credit Underwriting/Management and ensuring compliance with all legislation, regulation, policy and standards.
  3. Demonstrated ability to make Credit decisions that are considered from both a Credit Risk perspective and also with a customer conduct lens to ensure fair and equitable treatment.
  4. Problem solver with well-developed leadership and negotiation skills and experienced in dealing with senior stakeholder groups.
  5. Ability to interpret and understand complex Credit cases to be in a position to provide informed advice and/or approval in relation to Credit decisions. Reviewing 1LOD papers and preparing/input to 2LOD Risk Opinions.
