Summary of role:

The SME market remains one of AIB’s top strategic priorities given its importance to the Irish economy and the role this sector has played in AIB’s return to viability.  In Retail SME we serve our customers through our Local Market network, Direct Banking (Telephone) and through our online channels and offer a comprehensive product suite servicing all SME customer needs (both lending and-non lending).


AIB is committed to supporting both market and economic growth and continued recovery, where we will be competitive and innovative, as we strongly defend our existing customer base and attract new business. Significant investment is planned over the next three years to evolve our SME proposition and transform our credit process and customer journey through a range of levers such as policy and process simplification, technology transformation and investment in data and models to facilitate increased levels of automated decisioning and digitisation.


In addition to the Enterprise Credit Transformation program we have an ambition to develop and implement compelling value propositions for SMEs to support their day-to-day banking and Asset Finance needs, as well as delivering initiatives that support our sustainability agenda and our continued participation in Government sponsored supports such as the SBCI schemes.


The key responsibilities are

  • Support the delivery of market leading propositions for our SME customer base 
  • Ensure understanding, alignment and support from all internal stakeholders throughout the design and implementation processes
  • Support the insight effort to clearly identify, articulate and track attitudes and perceptions of our customers as part of the deign process
  • Build customer propositions which incorporate our products, services and channels into solutions which can be easily and effectively articulated and communicated to our customers
  • Work supportively/collaboratively with colleagues to ensure sharing of best practice and effective co-ordination of activities.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of key market drivers, issues and competitor offerings.  
  • Develop business procedures, staff training concepts and content as they relate to new and existing propositions
  • Ensure our SME propositions and associated activities are compliant and meet regulatory requirements and aligned with overall bank strategy

  • Experience of insight-led product or proposition development where the customer is at the centre of the change 
  • An understanding of the SME customer base, key market drivers and our products/services/channels  
  • A good general business background with an understanding of retail banking and current / emerging needs  
  • Experience working as part of a collaborative team to deliver a shared outcome
  • Experience working in a customer communications environment
