EBS d.a.c. is a wholly owned subsidiary of AIB which operates as a standalone, separately branded subsidiary with its own distribution network. EBS has a countrywide network of 66 offices and a direct telephone-based distribution division (EBS Direct). The EBS Compliance Teams primary responsibility is to ensure EBS d.a.c is in adherence with new and existing regulations. This is an exciting and challenging position with the opportunity to work within a team, whilst working closely with senior and specialist colleagues across the wider AIB organisation.


We’re looking for someone who can:

Leading a small team, the EBS Compliance Manager role entails:

  • Constructively engage and manage senior management in key business relationships across the AIB, to ensure EBS are aware of and aligned to best practice regarding the impact of new and existing regulations and key developments in the regulatory environment.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with senior key stakeholders across the Bank, working in a co-operative and constructively challenging manner. 
  • Influence and challenge senior stakeholders both in EBS and the wider AIB Group and represent a EBS at senior forums, governance fora and various Steering Committees.
  • Remain up to date with upstream legislation and risk challenges facing the organisation.
  • Acting as a source of expertise on relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Provide relevant, consistent and timely risk appropriate advice and support to the business in all matters relating to compliance.
  • Manage a variety of issues, respond to fast-paced deadlines and take responsibility for the ownership and completion of tasks to a high standard.
  • Review and assess Regulatory Compliance and Conduct Risk Frameworks and Policies in line with the Policy Governance Framework.
  • Proactively engage with business units to resolve complex, conduct of business regulatory matters.
  • Being proactive with a strong bias for action in preventing regulatory breaches.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating good organisational, communication and analytical skills.
  • Facilitating regular and ad-hoc reporting to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Participating in projects/management committees in a constructive collaborative manner.
  • Develop and implement training and awareness programme to key stakeholders across EBS and EBS Network.
  • Support and embed a strong compliance culture at all times throughout the organisation.
  • Review & challenge AIB Group policies and supporting regulatory gap analyses as applied to EBS.
  • Lead, manage, motivate and oversee the team of skilled resources.
  • Deputise for the Head of Risk and Assurance as required.

You will need to show us that you can/have:

  • Professional qualification (ACOI, QFA or other relevant discipline) would be preferable.
  • Minimum of 8 + years' experience in banking preferably in a Compliance role or similar experience in Risk or Internal/External Audit with a strong regulatory focus.
  • Understanding of compliance and operational risks across the banking and financial services industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams with strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster/manage relationships across multiple teams.
  • Ability to conduct research and provide recommendations on complex regulatory risk practices, standards and policies.
  • Knowledge of EBS products, while not a pre-requisite, would be desirable.
