Real Estate Finance (the "Unit") is part of Wholesale, Institutional & Corporate Banking ("WIB"). WIB is an exciting business serving the Bank’s larger customers or customers requiring specific sector or product expertise. You will work with our customers on some of their biggest financial decisions, helping to arrange innovative financing solutions and supporting their growth. In WIB we are looking for talented, energetic and motivated individuals to join our team.


The Unit has expanded significantly over the last 24 months and activity levels in Irish development finance are increasing to meet market demand. The Unit's portfolio includes residential development projects and commercial development projects.

The Unit is based in Dublin and this role will be based in Dublin, but travel is required on occasion.


The role:

The role is that of Engineer within the Development Finance Team. The successful candidate is responsible, in conjunction with the lending teams, for Initial and Ongoing Technical Due Diligence for Development Finance Team on residential development and commercial development projects financed by the Development Finance Team. This is an essential and important role in our business. The successful candidate will be a team player with the ability to influence and contribute to project selection and the business decision making process.


The key accountabilities/responsibilities are as follows:

Key responsibilities including but not limited to the following.


  • Site visit & Appraisal.
  • Review of construction methods including construction contracts.
  • Review of Development design highlighting Development Risks.
  • Review of Planning Permission.
  • Review of Design & Construction Team.
  • Review of Construction Costs and Development Budget.
  • Monitoring Projects throughout development cycle.
  • Liaising with Independent Bank Project Monitors.


Minimum criteria and required skills:


  1. The successful candidate will hold a Degree (qualified) Civil or Structural Engineer. Must be chartered or working towards chartership. Minimum 6 years’ experience.
  2. Be experienced in Civil & Structural Design and/or Project Management.
  3. Have a working knowledge of Building and Planning Regulations.
  4. Qualifications in Quantity Surveying or Construction Law an advantage.
  5. Have knowledge of LEED, BREEM, iSBEM, BIM Modelling an advantage.
