The Role

The Bank’s key data and analytics processes leverage a number of databases and technologies. This role will report directly to the Chief Data and Analytics Officer and form part of the senior management team, and will be accountable for setting the strategic direction and making key decisions on the banks data technologies.  This role is instrumental in defining and delivering a target platform architecture that enables the agility to adapt quickly to changing customer needs, regulatory requirement and market opportunities. The role will be fully accountable for data platforms and the supporting teams, ensuring they are effectively managed.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Operational management of the Data Platforms (including Teradata, Ab Initio, QlikView, SAS etc.) ensuring all SLAs are met and all platforms are resilient
  • Management of the relationships with third party technology and resource suppliers in accordance with Group Policy
  • Develop and execute a platform strategy that delivers capabilities in line with the overall business strategy while identifying opportunities for efficiencies
  • Prioritise deliverables according to business value generated and collaborate with peers across Technology, Risk and Finance to fully utilise our data assets
  • Scan the horizon for emerging data and analytical skills, techniques and technologies, and ensure their timely introduction for competitive advantage
  • Embed agile ways of working in the function focusing on rigorous measurement, continuous improvement, iterative delivery and outcome focus
  • In line with the Technology strategy drive the migration from primarily batch based processing to increasingly real-time eventing based processing leveraging best in class cloud technologies

You will need to demonstrate that you can/have:

  • Seven or more years of experience in information-intensive industries or digitally advanced enterprise
  • Experience of navigating complex (matrix) organization structures and managing internal executive stakeholders
  • Progressive and effective leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
  • Experience in managing a distributed team across multiple partners and geographies working to agile methodology.
