The Team

We were formed over the last 12 months and have expanded to now comprise of WIB Governance & Assurance team and the Credit Portfolio Management Unit. We have been designed to support all WIB Business Units by driving robust risk management and fostering sound risk awareness, supporting frontline implementation of policies and regulation and providing independent 1st line assurance.


The role is on the assurance team, which delivers consistent and risk led assurance activities across the Business segment.


We’re looking for someone who will:

  1. Orchestrate and lead successful and timely completion of Controls Assurance/Testing activities, including the identification and reporting of risks and issues.
  2. Test adherence to policy, procedure and regulatory requirements through the delivery of independent first line assurance reviews, under the direction of senior management.
  3. Build strong relationships with the First Line business, Risk, Compliance, Audit and Legal colleagues.
  4. Participate in the evaluation of first line controls, compliance, and risk, including but not limited to risk ratings, (where applicable), validating controls with the business, evaluating control design, and issue management.
  5. Continuously develop deep knowledge of core product, process, financial markets and technology.
  6. Assist with the development of and continuous improvement of the WIB first line assurance methodology to fully meet all relevant stakeholder needs and expectations.
  7. Own the production of management reporting, including interacting with and reporting risk related issues and progress to senior management.


You will need to show us that you have:

  1. 5 years financial experience within a wholesale, corporate or at minimum a business banking environment or 5 years' experience within an assurance function, such as internal audit, compliance monitoring or independent first line assurance.
  2. Must hold a relevant third level qualification, for example CIA qualified; ACCA; QFA; relevant wholesale, corporate or business banking qualifications.
  3. Experience dealing with U.S Regulations and MiFID regulations would be beneficial.
  4. Proven track record of accurately compiling reports and information to senior management teams.
  5. Experience in delivering independent first line assurance testing or reporting would be an advantage, particularly in a risk management discipline in a Financial Services environment .
  6. Self-starter with ability to work on own initiative with strong attention to detail, completing tasks to a very high degree of accuracy
