Summary of role:

The OR Event team is an established team within Operational Risk providing independent oversight and challenge to the business units in the first line of defence.

A key deliverable of the OR Event team is to ensure that the OR Event Reporting Policy is effectively embedded across the bank.  This policy ensures that OR Events occurring within the Bank are transparently reported and managed to resolution. This meets the Banks purpose ‘to back our customers to achieve their dreams and ambitions' enabling us to learn from our events, putting our Customers at the centre of what we do and facilitates for AIB to grow in a sustainable manner. 

The major changes being effected within the Bank and the rapidly evolving business environment present new challenges for Operational Risk with exciting learning and career development opportunities for all individuals working within the team.

The OR Event team is now seeking applications from ambitious professionals who are keen to pursue an opportunity in Operational Risk.

 

 Key Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate second line oversight and influence the desired Risk Culture in the organisation.
  • Review Operational Risk Events reported and provide independent Operational Risk oversight to ensure all Operational Risk Events are identified, managed and reported in accordance with the banks Operational Risk Framework and supporting policies.
  • Support Management in meeting key OR Event monitoring deliverables.
  • Analyse and Interpret OR Event trends to identify thematic trends, highlighting areas for improvement and under deep-dive review of exceptional items;
  • Produce and prepare high quality monthly reporting to key stakeholders both internally & externally.
  • Monitor & track all the agreed remediation actions with the business areas and stakeholders within agreed timelines.
  • Support the implementation of strategic enterprise-wide projects arising from both regulatory and other requirements.
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to ensure Operational Risk Events reporting processes and systems are meeting one of our Key Pillars 'Simple and Efficient'.  

 

Minimum Criteria:  Please note that the following criteria form the basis of your answers on the application

  1. Good understanding of the Operational Risk framework and a clear understanding and knowledge of operational risk management methodologies, tools and practices
  2. Dynamic self-starter with the ability to work independently demonstrating good organisational, communication and influencing skills.  
  3. Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to build strong effective working relationships without compromising independence and influencing the desired risk culture across the organisation.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to communicate clearly.
  5. Minimum of one years' experience in risk, compliance, GIA or a governance/ control role. Relevant third level qualification or higher.

 

Desirable but not essential for this role:

Professionally qualified candidates (eg IIA, ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA) or candidates undergoing these or similar exams.

Good MS Exel and PowerPoint skills. Knowledge of Shield and SharePoint also an advantage.
