Summary of role:

The Risk Function is an independent, second line of defence function that monitors, controls and supports risk-taking activities across AIB.  The purpose of the Risk Function is to provide advice and guidance in relation to risk while providing independent oversight and reporting on AIB’s risk profile.

The Risk Function’s main objective is to ensure AIB has a robust risk management framework and culture in place to ensure risks are taken within the risk appetite set by the Board, in support of AIB’s customer franchise and social responsibility.  

Group Risk Assurance (GRA) is a vibrant team within Compliance & Assurance playing an important role in informing senior management and the Board on our risk management and the adequacy and effectiveness of the control environment.  Our Assurance team is led by the Head of Group Risk Assurance within Risk and reports to the Group Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Risk Officer, Group Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee.

GRA are experts in different specialist areas – including Cyber, Financial Crime, Data Protection, Digital Technology, Supply Chain Management, Resilience, Consumer Protection, Finance, Change, Prudential Regulation & more – accessing senior stakeholders within the organisation and plenty of opportunities to obtain great exposure and experience across all areas of the Bank. 

The role holder assists the team to deliver a comprehensive proactive, independent second line assurance reports for the Bank and associated subsidiaries. Supports the delivery and management of risk based assurance reviews that effectively challenges and influences management / business leaders through the agreement and reporting of assurance findings which drive improvements in the control environment to support risk management practices.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Assist the review lead in defining a review scope, test strategy, and execute testing.
  • Interact professionally and efficiently with business areas and key stakeholders.
  • Complete comprehensive testing to allow for the identification of Issues.
  • Assist the Lead reviewer in Preparing and agreeing detailed final review reports for senior management and
  • Contribute to committee and board reports to ensure senior management are up to date and aware of key compliance issues.

  • For this role, there is a preference for candidates qualified or studying for Compliance, Risk and Control or Accounting/Audit qualifications.
  • Have a minimum of two years’ experience in a financial services. Have a proven understanding and experience of financial services industry regulations, key banking processes, financial products and/or systems.
  • Has a lot of initiative, excellent attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
  • There is a preference for experience of Compliance, Finance, Technology, Data, Risk Management or Audit in a Banking environment and associated risks.
