The Role

A Senior Data Analyst analyses and designs the solution and implementation of data pipelines which connect operational systems to analytics and business intelligence (BI) systems.

Our team develops data pipelines on behalf of Business Stakeholders within a complex IT and data infrastructure.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for the successful candidate to expand the team’s ability to deliver data products in a best in class infrastructure where data and analytical tooling integrate deeply.

 

Skills needed for this role

  • Communication skills. You know how to communicate to and between technical and non-technical stakeholders as well as facilitate discussions within a multidisciplinary team, with potentially difficult dynamics. You can advocate for the team externally. You know how to manage different perspectives.
  • Data analysis and synthesis. You know how to undertake data profiling and source system analysis and can present clear insights to colleagues to support the end use of the data.
  • Data innovation. You understand the impact of emerging trends on the organisation in data tools, analysis techniques and data usage.
  • Data integration design. You know how to select and implement the appropriate technologies to deliver resilient, scalable and future-proofed data solutions.
  • Data modelling. You understand the concepts and principles of data modelling and can produce relevant data models across multiple subject areas. You know how to reverse-engineer data models from a live system. You understand industry-recognised data modelling patterns and standards and when to apply them. You can compare and align different data models.
  • Metadata management. You can design an appropriate metadata repository and present changes to existing metadata repositories. You understand a range of tools for storing and working with metadata. You can provide oversight and advice to more inexperienced members of the team.
  • Problem Solving: You can takes large complex problem domains and requirements and decomposes into segments. You will draw on subject matter experts to translate the complex into the simple to define a holistic Architecture and Roadmap.
  • Testing. You can review requirements, specifications and define test conditions. You can identify issues and risks associated with work while being able to analyse and report test activities and results.

 

 

You will need to show us that you can/have:

  1. Minimum of bachelor degree in a discipline incorporating: information management related disciplines or quantitative analytical techniques, e.g., Software Engineering, Data and Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics;
  2. 5+ years’ experience as a data analyst or software developer in a relevant area, with knowledge of the software development lifecycle and IT change management, a strong  understanding of Banking is a plus
  3. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with expertise and knowledge of data integration technologies.
  4. Knowledge of the data quality challenges and impacts financial services organisations face and of solutions to sustainably address these Strong communication skills with a proven track record of articulating complex concepts/results in simple language;
  5. Experience of leading junior team members a plus;
