About the Role:


The Group Strategy function is responsible for driving strategic planning at enterprise level. The team explores a range of strategic options, identifies strategic priorities that optimise stakeholder value in the near and long term and translates this into a comprehensive strategic plan.  In addition, the team undertakes deep dives on key business issues as required.


The Senior Group Strategist assists the Head of Group Strategy in developing, communicating, and executing the Group Strategy. They work extensively with business unit leadership to support annual business planning and wider business environment understanding.


Key Responsibilities Include:


  • Develop and lead an integrated strategic planning framework that explores a range of strategic options, identifies strategic priorities that maximizes shareholder value in the near and long term and translates this into a comprehensive strategic plan.
  • Periodic in-depth strategy reviews on key business issues, validating and iterating the business imperatives for the organisation.  These reviews include providing intelligence on market trends; competitor actions (both traditional and non-traditional disruptors); and the evolving regulatory and macro-economic landscape.
  • Support the Head of Strategy in leading and managing the strategic planning and development process including the delivery of 3-year strategic planning cycle.
  • Support regular reporting to the Board of Directors regarding the Company’s performance, strategy and events affecting its business, including opportunities in the marketplace.
  • Advise on optimum resource allocation and management against strategic priorities with clear accountabilities, governance, and capability enablers to deliver results in the short, medium, and long-term.
  • Effectively aligns the interests of multiple and diverse stakeholders.
  • Be part of a team of specialists that provide insights on macro trends, competitive risks, regulatory developments, and strategic opportunities.
  • Continuously advise on and create sustained awareness of the evolving regulatory landscape. Highlight the strategic implications for the organisation and advise business on options to proactively prepare for regulatory developments in their strategic plans.
  • Promote an understanding of and ensure appropriate use of data, strategic planning, and business planning models throughout the organization.



What you will bring : 


  1. A highly motivated self-starter with 10 years relevant industry, business and strategy experience,
  2. Strategy consultancy background is preferred but not essential.
  3. Candidates considered for the role will have a strong track record of success in leading strategy formulation and best practice.
  4. Understand all facets and drivers of the business and make decisions with recognition of short and long-term implications.
  5. Strong research and analytical skills with related ability to clearly articulate proposals for Board/ExCo consideration
  6. Highly skilled in building enduring relationships with stakeholders.
