We are building pioneering solutions for our customers in a very collaborative and innovative environment. The Enterprise Technology & Cloud Engineering team based in our new Digital Hub in Central Park has the responsibility for delivering an ambitious business strategic roadmap.


Summary of role:

Senior Engineer within the AIB Technology & Operations Midrange team, reporting directly to the Senior Midrange technical lead.

To build, support and maintain enterprise class Linux servers, virtual and physical, hosted across a number of platform types including on-premise IaaS.

The successful candidate will also be expected to support and maintain traditional Unix platforms and hosting environments across Solaris, HP-UX and AIX.

Experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) preferred; alternatively experience in other enterprise class Linux distributions considered. Experience in one or a number of the following Unix environments also sought: Solaris, HP-UX and AIX

Automation / DevOps experience highly advantageous


We’re looking for someone who:

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the following, individually and collectively within a team context:

  • The build and configuration of enterprise class server technologies. Specifically Red Hat Enterprise Linux. And also Solaris, HP-UX and AIX
  • Implementation and maintenance of security, risk and compliance standards as they apply across the Linux and Unix operating system environments – automated as appropriate
  • Scoping, planning and implementation of security vulnerability remediation activities in coordination with security operations and application teams – automated as appropriate
  • Preparing, testing and applying operating system patch sets through the environment lifecycle and change control procedures – automated as appropriate
  • Supporting development and application teams in the implementation and integration of their applications on the Linux and Unix hosted environments and related technologies – user access management, network placement, segmentation & firewalls, etc.
  • Operating system and related technology issue troubleshooting and resolution in alignment with best practise ITSM methodologies and coordination with stakeholder teams
  • Supporting critical 24*7 business services as a member of an on-call rota providing out of hours support for incident and change, weekdays and weekends

You will need to show us that you have:

  • Minimum 7 years hands-on technical experience managing and maintaining enterprise Linux and Unix server technologies
  • Strong problem solving skills, structured analytical approach to resolution
  • A strong understanding audit, compliance and security standards and experience managing and maintaining environments to comply with these standards
  • Strong communication skills; report writing; fluency in spoken and written English
  • Flexibility and experience to independently provide incident and change support outside of standard business hours weekdays and weekends on a rota basis
  • Automation / scripting knowledge and experience highly advantageous (Ansible, Python, Chef, Bladelogic etc.)
