Location: Molesworth Street, Dublin 2 with Hybrid Working (2/3 days per week in the office)
This role is being offered on a permanent basis.
About the Role:
We are inviting applications for a Senior Solicitor on the Corporate and Commercial Legal Team, within the Legal, Corporate Governance & Customer Care function in AIB Group. This role is a new and exciting position, created due to our evolving group structure and ongoing strategic initiatives, with a mixture of advisory and transactional work. It will join a dedicated team of 14 solicitors.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Strategic and Special Projects:
- Our legal work is evolving with AIB’s inorganic acquisitions and technology transformation projects. This role will support some of the more complex and strategic AIB Group outsourcings and technology contracts and include material and critical outsourcings.
Joint Ventures:
- Our Group structure is changing, and this role will be dedicated to supporting our new and existing joint ventures for all legal advice and contractual arrangements including our new joint venture AIB Life.
Competition Law and Company Law:
- This role will be the legal subject matter expert for all competition law and company law affecting AIB Group and responsible for devising and implementing guidelines, procedures, and training, where applicable.
Stakeholder Management
- Engaging, advocating, influencing, and presenting to senior stakeholders within AIB Group.
- Providing a clear and impactful legal viewpoint on relevant legal issues to facilitate decision making.
- Developing strong relationships with business areas, understanding their strategic objectives and requirements, and establishing communication networks.
- Development of business areas legal knowledge by way of continuous ‘on the job’ teaching, preparing, and delivering practice notes, providing training and workshops/clinics.
Legal Risk Assessment
- Supporting AIB Group in the identification, assessment and mitigation of legal risks arising in corporate and commercial transactions.
Senior leader in the Corporate and Commercial Legal Team
- Driving a culture of purpose - to back our customers to achieve their dreams and ambitions - within the Corporate and Commercial Legal Team.
- Contribute to the running of Corporate and Commercial Legal Team as a senior stakeholder including inputting into divisional strategy and operational model.
- Using insight from trends observed to suggest strategic propositions that would be of benefit to the Corporate and Commercial Legal Team and, as required, implementing them.
What you will bring:
- A qualified Solicitor in Ireland or the UK, with minimum 10 years Post Qualification experience either in a commercially-focused large/ medium size law firm or in an in-house environment.
- Commercially focused and strategically minded – someone who can see the “bigger picture”
- Assess legal risk and provide legal advice to navigate and mitigate that risk
- Proactive – can be accountable and drive the legal stream of projects and initiatives along
- Strong Team player – is willing to help out others on the Corporate and Commercial Legal team, the LCGCC function and wider business teams. Someone who enjoys working as part of a team with different skillsets.
