About the Role:

We are inviting applications for a position as solicitor within the Litigation Team, which is part of AIB Group’s Legal, Corporate Governance & Customer Care function.

The Litigation Team provides a full in-house litigation service to AIB and its subsidiaries in ROI (the “Bank”). The principal focus of the Litigation Team is defending legal actions against the Bank and instituting proceedings to protect the Banks’ interests in non-debt recovery and enforcement cases.

Reporting to a Senior Solicitor within the Unit, this is an exciting opportunity to join a legal team who provide legal support to several business areas across the Bank. The role requires litigation experience, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment. 

The successful candidate will be a member of a team of circa 5 legal professionals who provide a full in-house litigation service to the Bank with a focus on providing legal advice that is accurate, practical, and commercial. They will have a knowledge of the practice and procedure of all courts and tribunals where cases are brought and will be able to identify and assess liability, defences and mitigating strategies.

 

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Has experience in defence litigation with an in-depth knowledge of the practice and procedure of all courts and tribunals within the Irish jurisdiction. Some experience in financial services regulation would be an advantage.
  • Has strong collaboration skills to work with colleagues within the Unit, the wider Function and stakeholder functions in the Bank.
  • Can demonstrate an ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Is pragmatic and commercial in their approach to providing legal advice.

 

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Qualified in Ireland as a Solicitor and have 1-2 years’ PQE in the area of litigation.
  • In-depth knowledge of the practice and procedure of all courts and tribunals within the Irish jurisdiction.
  • Experienced in advising in relation to claims such as defamation, breach of contract, breach of confidentiality and breach of data protection legislation.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders and work collaboratively with others. As well as the ability to work efficiently and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate with clarity and present complex information in a concise format that is audience appropriate. Also, be commercial and pragmatic in your approach.
