We are building pioneering solutions for our customers in a very collaborative and innovative environment. The Channels Development Team based in our new Digital Hub in Central Park has the responsibility for delivering ambitious business strategic roadmap.


The Role

The candidate will lead a technical team within the Core/Payments domain taking responsibility for implementing the appropriate technology solutions and/or providing oversight on technical direction. The role requires a recognised technical specialist providing insight and expertise in directing others. Working alongside offshore and onshore colleagues, they will be involved in multi million Euro programs that will transform solutions in AIB, enabling AIB's best in class digital ambition.


We’re looking for someone who:

  • Can influence & engage key business & IT stakeholders in the definition of requirements, and drive the design and implementation of the Core Banking Releases from legacy systems onto the banks new strategic Core Banking platform.
  • Will lead & motivate a team of IT Specialists in the delivery of multiple strategic and regulatory change initiatives across Account and Payment domains.
  • Will work with and across multiple domains, with wider Eco-System teams and stakeholder groups to ensure change and service migration approaches are adopted to minimize service risk & optimize delivery
  • Will deliver key strategic changes within the overall roadmap of Core Banking Platform, engaging commitment from AIB’s development, infrastructure, Operation teams and delivery partners, product vendors and implementation teams
  • Drives continuous improvements to the delivery process via automation and adoption of best practices from industry
  • Manages the Risks, Resourcing and Budget requirements on assigned streams for this programme of work and promote a commercial focus
  • Will act as a strategic partner in supporting business areas across the group, identifying and driving forward new cost effective technology solutions for our Core Banking operations


You will need to show us that you can/have:


  • 7+ years’ enterprise technology and transformational change experience. Core Banking and/or Payments delivery related experience would be a benefit.
  • Expert level understanding of distributed architectures and microservice development.
  • Strong technical expertise in the Web technologies and Service Integration Patterns. Specific skills to include Java, Spring, Spring Boot,  REST, SQL, CI/CD Tooling, JSON, XML.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues and strategy to both technical and non-technical audiences at senior levels within the bank. Interpersonal skills - collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
  • Project and programme management planning and organisational skills with ability to accurately estimate development and testing efforts, identify tasks on the critical path, and asses risk in the overall project.
  • Broad understanding of Application, Information and Infrastructure technologies & practices

  • Level of Influence: Engages with internal and external project team members/stakeholders and provides recommendations and direction on the technical implications or options.
  • Leadership: Technical expert in domain of expertise and leads a team to deliver objectives.
  • Culture and Conduct: Champions a Customer First culture in support of our Purpose, strategic ambition and Brand Values, by ensuring processes and procedures consistently promote good outcomes for all our customers.
